Theatre BC Mainstage Festival
Theatre BC’s Mainstage Festival will be held in Fort St. John this year. This annual festival collects the best of community theatre from regional festivals around the province to be presented to an appreciative audience and theatre professionals. Each show will receive a thought-provoking critique on their performances and ideas on what each club should focus on to develop their craft.
This year’s adjudicator will be Raugi Yu. He is a graduate of the Dome Theatre program in Montreal and the BFA Acting program at UBC. He has acted in various theatres across Canada and the U.S. Moving seamlessly between stage and film, you may recognize him from roles in, Hurricane Mona (The Cultch) Bad Parent by Ins Choi, world premiere (vAct, PTE, Soulpepper) The Shoplifters, The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night Time (Arts Club) Measure For Measure, Comedy Of Errors, Coriolanus (Bard On The Beach) The East Van Panto: Jack and the Beanstalk, Wizard Of Oz, Alice In Wonderland (The Cultch). Upcoming are Grandma Gangsta Guerrilla (Ruby Slippers) and Cambodian Rockband (Arts Club)
On screen, you may remember Raugi from shows like Mr. Young, jPod and Kung-Fu. Raugi is also the Director for the feature film Attic Trunk on Apple and for episodes of Some Assembly Required. Raugi is an instructor, private coach and mentor to many BIPOC actors. His favourite teaching and learning tools are love first, then genuine curiosity, and he is always curious about the “Who am I?”
