Gingerbread House Decorating Competition

Join the North Peace Cultural Centre in their annual Gingerbread Decorating Competition! This event it open to groups, families, teens, kids, and adults! Drop off your confectionary creations before 1:00 on Saturday, December 7th and be entered to potentially win a prize from one of our amazing sponsors. See full rules below. Preregistration can be done by filling out the form here or by emailing reception@npcc.bc.ca

  • Participants may enter under one of the following age categories
    • Family 12 and under/ Group: Groups must be made of three people or more, this can be a group of friends, coworkers, or a family with children under the age of 12
    • 13-18: any individual between the ages of 13 and 18 at the time of the contest
    • Adults (19+): any individual 19 or older at the time of the contest
    • Seniors (55+): any individual 55 or older at the time of the contest
  • Limited one (1) entry per category
  • No entry fee, but registration is required
  • Points are awarded based on originality, technical difficulty, use of colour, aroma, and theme
  • This year’s theme is: Film and TV
  • The entire gingerbread “house” must be built of edible materials. Other non-edible structures can be added.
  • Entries need to be on a base no bigger than 20 x 18’’
  • Entries must be dropped off no later than 1:00pm on Saturday, December 7th
  • Gingerbread houses will be on display from Saturday, December 7th – Saturday, December 14th
  • Panel judging (“Judges Prize”) will commence on the afternoon of Saturday, December 7th
  • The community will be able to vote for their favourite house (“People’s Choice”) in person from 2:00pm on Saturday, December 7th – 5:00pm on Thursday, December 12th
  • “People’s Choice” ballots can be dropped off at the box office or at the gallery
  • Winners of the “Judges Prize” will be announced on Monday, December 9th
  • Winners of the “People’s Choice” will be announced on Friday, December 13th
  • Entries must be picked up before 5:00 on Saturday, December 9th or they will be disposed of
  • Any prizes won will be held at the NPCC box office until the winners are able to pick them up
