SUMMARY:Pretty Expiry- Art Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:Join us Friday, April 10th for the opening of Pretty Expiry from Celina Forbes. Pretty Expiry will be on display at Peace Gallery North from April 10th to May 2nd.\nArtist Statement: What is pretty? How do you describe what is beautiful to everyone when we all see the world differently. When does one expire and become obsolete? Is it with age or when death takes them and their body decays? These questions intrigue me because I try to place my artwork on the verge of uncomfortable and beautiful. I enjoy the aspect of horns. Will the viewer calculate them to be an evil creature, or will there be an exquisite honor in adorning horns? How uncomfortable can I make the viewer without scaring them away from death and decay? Will they think it’s beautiful?\nMy inspiration comes from the ideals of beauty standards set around me and my whole life. I\nintend to explore more ways to make to make people feel uncomfortable beauty. What is the\nright type of beauty?\n“You know it’s not supposed to be this way, but for some strange reason, you can’t stop\nthinking, Maybe I kind of like it?”\n
