playArts Preschool - Fine Arts Based Program

IMG 1337smiStock 000010810063XSmallOur Fine Arts Preschool provides children, ages 3 to 5, with abundant opportunities to experience creative movement, language, literature, rhythm, dance, cooking and the visual arts. Hands-on involvement in three to four art forms daily helps children find enjoyable ways to express themselves and grow through experience, nurturing development of the whole child.

Did you know?

Fine Arts based preschools are becoming a popular choice for parents throughout Canada and we are pleased to offer the first and only northern BC based opportunity. PlayArts is proud to be a leader in this exciting educational experience.

Painting, colouring, cutting, gluing, assembling... The possibilities are endless! Your child will experience hands-on creativity and gain the ability to express themselves through different mediums, skills, talents and practices. Making mistakes is a part of this process and scientific thinking and creativity go hand-in-hand. Art provides opportunities for making decisions and problem solving no matter how many times a child has worked with the same medium.

Introduce your child to the world of dance and creative movement. Through dance and gymnastics, children learn coordination and control of the body, learning to use their hands, eyes, feet and body at the same time. Creative movement also encourages inspiration and imagination.

On top of the essential English language skills we teach day-to-day, we also have specialty instructors teaching French and American Sign Language to broaden your child's experience and comprehension. Learning to express their creativity through the use of words, both spoken and written, allows children to gain extraordinary understanding and knowledge.

Creating food from recipes through preparation, measurement and following instructions, your child will learn how to turn ingredients into delicious snacks. The use of different ingredients and methods of creating allows children to gain experience in problem solving, critical thinking and accomplishment.

As children work in the art center, they learn to share the materials, to accept other's ways of creating and to enjoy being a part of the group. Children learn to feel good about themselves and each other as they learn they can do things well. Freedom to explore, make mistakes and experiment is of immeasurable value as we move through life. The arts foster that freedom, encouraging children to invent, create and find new ways to do things.
